Navratri 2019 Date: When will be Navratri 2019?



Navratri, the festival of nine Goddesses, according to Indian mythology is a nine day festival, followed by Dussehra festival in the tenth day. Each day comes with the prayers of one Goddess followed by celebrations and the famous "Dandiya" night. "Dandiya" is a type of dance performed with partners with the help of sticks. This festival is celebrated in the month Ashwin, according to hindu calender. In north-eastern states such as Assam, or West Bengal, Navratri is synonymous with Durga Puja, the festival of Goddess Durga.

4th October: (Chati) Prayer of Goddess Kalyani
5th October: (Saptmi) Prayer of Goddess Kalkatri
6th October: (Ashtami) Prayer of Goddess Mahagauri
7th October: (Navmi) Prayer of Goddess Siddhatri

Meaning of Navratri

The word navratri means "Nine spiritual nights" in Sanskrit. It is made up of two words, nav meaning Nine and ratri meaning Nights.

Navratri is celebrated twice in a year. The former one known as "Chatanya Navratri" is celebrated during the spring season, in the months of April or March. Know everything about navratri here
